Event Overview

G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs), a class of membrane proteins, are involved in critical cellular signaling pathways that are linked to the onset and cause of many diseases. Determining the structure and function of membrane proteins can be challenging, partly due to their hydrophobic properties, which make solubilization difficult. QTY variants have 46-56 percent of their transmembrane α-helices altered, but they are water-soluble, maintain stable structures, are biologically functional, and retain proper ligand-binding activity.
